CDSCO has approved HiMedia to commercialise the production of its influenza PCR detection kit (MBPPCR263). This kit has the capacity to check multiple influenza strains in less than 90 minutes.

HiMedia, a Mumbai-based biosciences company, has received the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) approval to commercialise the production of its influenza PCR detection kit (MBPCR263).

HiMedia has developed a Multiplex Reverse Transcriptase real-time PCR kit. It allows doctors and public health laboratories to diagnose influenza infection rapidly in a single tube.

Hi-PCR® Influenza Multiplex Probe PCR Kit can check several influenza virus strains in less than 90 minutes. It contains primer and probe sets explicitly designed to find RNA from the three influenza viruses:

  • A virus
  • B & H1N1 pdm 09
  • Internal control (IC)

HiMedia has always provided open kits and instrument platforms to ensure that the industry continuously acquires the advantages of its laboratory's innovative and creative research. This kit is similar to others as it can be used with the various Real-Time PCR systems available in the market.

The ability of this CE-IVD and CDSCO-approved kit is that it detects an extra target, Influenza B, in the same tube as other targets, which sets it apart from other kits.

'œRT-PCR is considered as a gold standard method for influenza surveillance and diagnosis due to its high specificity, sensitivity and rapid detection and our Hi'PCR® Influenza Multiplex Probe PCR Kit delivers just that,' said Dr. Rajas V Warke, director of HiGenoMB® and Virology, HiMedia labs.

HiMedia is one of the leading Indian biosciences companies that offers services to more than 150 countries globally. The categories of the products that the organisation provides are:
