In cases where conceiving naturally is not possible, the insurance programme offers cashless treatment of two IUI (intrauterine insemination) and two IVF (in vitro fertilisation), respectively, that includes egg collection, laser-assisted hatching, blastocyst culture, and embryo-transfer and freezing.

Indira IVF, the largest network of infertility treatment hospitals in India, has partnered with SafeTree, a leading insurtech, to launch India’s first insurance to support couples with infertility.

The newly launched insurance offers a proactive approach for the first 24 months with medical, dietary and psychological consultations to help couples under the age of 35 years conceive naturally.

Further, these consultants help in increasing awareness regarding various medical and lifestyle habits and subsequently enhance their fertility to have children by natural means.

However, in cases where conceiving naturally is not possible, the insurance programme offers cashless treatment of two IUI (intrauterine insemination) and two IVF (in vitro fertilisation), respectively. It includes egg collection, laser-assisted hatching, blastocyst culture, and embryo-transfer and freezing.

Moreover, SafeTree extends insurance to oocyte or egg donors and surrogates, as per the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 and Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021, respectively. This initiative aims to uplift healthcare delivery in the country by helping couples make significant savings in their standalone treatment cost.

Highlighting the need gap of infertility insurance, Vikas Anand, CEO, SafeTree Insurance said, “Infertility is an emotionally charged experience for any couple. During a consumer research we conducted, we found that nearly 2 in 3 couples undergoing treatment found it extremely challenging, and over 90% of couples lacked the financial support for the same. We noted an emerging sentiment of insurance coverage, especially among the Tier-2 population, where the spending capacity on healthcare delivery is extremely limited. This proposition is a unique and first-of-its-kind to be offered to couples.”

Founded by Vikas Anand in 2020, SafeTree is the brand name of A2V Insurance Brokers. It is an insurtech platform intended to protect individuals and corporations from financial risks.

The company offers quotes for life, health, travel, auto and home insurance along with claims processing services. SafeTree aims to provide effective risk mitigation services through insurance and other awareness programs so that customers can effectively manage their risks.

Indira IVF on the other hand, was founded by Dr Ajay Murdia in 2011. It is India’s largest fertility chain with 120+ centres across the country. It has helped more than 1,40,000 couples battle their infertility issues and successfully get pregnant through IVF. The company aims to provide personalised assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment to aspiring parents.

In a similar development, Ferty9 Fertility Centre collaborated with CooperSurgical for enhanced fertility solutions. The collaboration seeks to enhance India's fertility treatment domain, promising improved success rates and more live births by integrating advanced technology and global expertise.
