This initiative seeks to do away with the requirement of patients or their companions to travel to different locations for sample submission or analysis. Concurrently, AIIMS guarantees that all reports will be accessible electronically or directly from the corresponding OPDs.
To facilitate a seamless experience for patients and streamline operations, Prof. M. Srinivas, director, AIIMS, has directed a comprehensive overhaul of inpatient services.
This transformative step eliminates the need for patients and caregivers to navigate to other locations for sample submission or analysis. Simultaneously, AIIMS is working toward providing electronic access to reports or enabling direct retrieval from the designated OPDs.
Aligned with this transformative endeavour, AIIMS has set a deadline of August 31, 2023, for the establishment of shared sample collection and report distribution centres within the individual OPDs.
This operational enhancement is entrusted to the chiefs of all centres, the medical superintendent, and the faculty in charge of the New RAK OPD.
Departments that previously necessitated patient visits to academic or office areas for sample collection or report retrieval are urged to seamlessly collaborate with the faculty in charge of the New RAK OPD.
Effective September 1, 2023, AIIMS will ensure that all sample and report collection activities are seamlessly integrated within the OPDs, optimising the process for both patients and staff.
AIIMS also strongly advocates for uploading all medical reports onto the AIIMS HMIS (eHospital) platform. Dr. M. Srinivas said, "This technological integration empowers patients to effortlessly access their reports through the ORS portal, underscoring AIIMS' commitment to cutting-edge patient care."
For this purpose, all diagnostic departments are earnestly requested to liaise with the institution's computer facility and integrate their reporting systems with the hospital's network.
In April of this year, AIIMS unveiled plans to implement an indoor navigation system designed to enhance the experience of patients and visitors. This innovative system aims to provide real-time guidance to help individuals reach their desired locations within the hospital seamlessly.
Moreover, it holds the potential to enhance the efficiency of hospital staff and minimise the risk of patients or visitors encountering difficulties in finding their way, consequently preventing delays in patient treatment.
In a separate advancement, AIIMS Delhi also decided to opt for digital allocation of accommodations, aiming to enhance transparency. The shift comes in response to several grievances regarding the existing offline allotment procedure, prompting this decision.
