By providing real-time patient data to healthcare professionals through remote patient monitoring, the company aims to reduce preventable mortality rates and bridge the healthcare gap that exists between urban and rural areas.

LifeSigns, a Chennai-based health tech company, has unveiled its latest AI-powered remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology solution aimed at improving access to healthcare in the country's remote rural areas.

This innovative solution claims to offer 24x7 real-time, uninterrupted streaming of patient data to doctors and healthcare professionals, whether the patient is at home, in an ambulance, or at the hospital. To further expand its impact, LifeSigns has plans to deploy remote patient monitoring solutions in 1000 rural and Tier-III cities across India within the next 1000 days.

In a strategic move to bolster its reach, LifeSigns has also entered into a partnership with RailTel Corporation, a leading provider of optic fibre network services in India. Leveraging RailTel's extensive optic fibre cable network, spanning over 62,000 kilometres, LifeSigns aims to enhance connectivity in rural India, facilitating the remote monitoring of patients in underserved regions.

Sharing thoughts on the same, Hari Subramanian, founder & CEO of LifeSigns, said, "At LifeSigns, we are driven by the purpose to make patient vital data, timely accessible and affordable and to leverage next-gen technology to address healthcare disparities in underserved regions. People living in rural and remote areas face 2-3 times higher preventable mortality rate than those who live in urban India. Our technology solution is powered by an advanced alert algorithm to function effectively in India's most remote rural corners, without missing even a single heartbeat of a patient, and this is what makes it unique. We trust that this is another step forward in our mission to ensure equitable healthcare access."

Regarding the partnership with RailTel, Subramanian said that it would enable LifeSigns to tap into RailTel's extensive optic fibre networks, facilitating the implementation of their solution in rural areas and Tier III cities.

LifeSigns' innovative solution holds the promise of significantly improving healthcare access and outcomes in India's remote and underserved regions. By providing real-time patient data to healthcare professionals, the company aims to reduce preventable mortality rates and bridge the healthcare gap that exists between urban and rural areas.

Established in 2019 by Girish Chandra and Shouri Akkineni, LifeSigns is based in Chennai and specialises in a cloud-based wireless digital patient monitoring patch for healthcare providers.

The company's software is designed to aid healthcare providers in tracking various patient parameters, offering a comprehensive set of features for health parameter monitoring, a robust alert system, automated vital data collection, post-discharge monitoring, and more.

In a similar development, in June this year, Max Healthcare, a prominent healthcare provider in India known for its extensive network of over 15 super-speciality hospitals, diagnostics facilities, and integrated home care services, introduced an AI-powered patient monitoring framework in partnership with MyHealthcare, a digital health solutions provider.

Equipped with clinical devices connected to the Max MyHealth app, patients can self-monitor their vital signs. These readings are then transmitted to the electronic medical records (EMR) for the healthcare provider's assessment. The system can monitor key health metrics such as heart rate, ECG, Spo2 levels, blood sugar, and blood pressure.
