Shopian in south Kashmir becomes first district hospital to implement AI technology in the radiology department for effective diagnosis.

The hospital has started a pilot project for Quick X-ray (Qxr), which uses AI tools to make diagnoses faster, under the direction of the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir. With an accuracy of over 90%, this innovative approach makes it possible to immediately identify abnormal areas on X-rays, greatly simplifying the final diagnosis process for radiologists.

By providing intelligent computing solutions to practical medical issues, artificial intelligence has been revolutionizing the healthcare industry. Particularly in radiology, which makes use of radiation to generate medical imaging like X-rays for the purpose of detecting abnormalities, deep learning techniques have significantly increased the impact of technology in healthcare. Complex anomalous patterns in medical image data can be automatically identified using artificial intelligence algorithms, allowing patients to receive assistive diagnoses.

The field of radiology generates a substantial amount of clinical image data, necessitating hours of sifting through these images, developing analyses, and rendering final diagnoses. However, medical images can be processed and analysed by computer vision (CV), a subfield of artificial intelligence, to accurately predict diseases.

The use of artificial intelligence by radiologists at District Hospital Shopian streamlines their work processes, which has many advantages. These benefits include faster results delivery, improved analysis capabilities, and a more precise classification of abnormalities.

Machine-learning algorithms and software that imitate human cognition enable the analysis, presentation, and comprehension of complex medical and healthcare data are included in artificial intelligence in healthcare. By offering novel methods for diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases, it surpasses human capabilities. Patients have expressed gratitude to the Administrative Secretary, Bhupinder Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Shopian, the Director of Health Services Kashmir, the Chief Medical Officer of Shopian, and the Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Shopian for the progressive steps that the Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken. It is anticipated that these cutting-edge medical facilities will raise District Hospital Shopian to the level of other notable healthcare facilities in the Union Territory.
