The Government of India soon plans to launch "Integrative Health Policy" for the overall improvement in the health and wellness of the population at large, as informed by the Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya during the inauguration of the National AYUSH Mission Conclave in Delhi.

According to the minister, the 'Integrative Health policy' would be a collaborative enterprise of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of AYUSH with a higher emphasis on integrative medicine and holistic health as today, the most pressing need is to ensure good health of every citizen.

Dr. Mandaviya stated the importance of the traditional medicine system of India which has turned into India's strength and its wide scale acknowledgement across different nations. For instance, Yoga is viewed as the best with regards to wellbeing, and is broadly accepted across the globe. The minister went on to say that, for the health and well-being benefits, the majority of Japanese people regularly engage in some form of yoga.

Traditional medicine in India promotes and adopts a holistic approach to health that places an emphasis on wellness at its core. Therefore, the goal of the collaboration between modern and traditional medicine is to establish multiple medical systems on a single platform, facilitating cross-referrals and true medical integration.

Additionally, the initiatives "Heal in India" and "Heal by India" received a commendable response from across the globe due to an increased inflow of patients from around the world traveling to India to receive treatment and a rapidly growing demand for Indian medical professionals trained in both modern and traditional medicine.

As the nation is currently being looked at with greater expectations, with lakhs of people opting for medical tourism in India from different parts of the world to receive treatment in both modern as well as AYUSH hospitals, therefore a more integrative approach to health is definitely the need of the hour.
