Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, during the 'CM Ki Vishesh Charcha,' applauded Haryana's e-Sanjeevani teleconsultation service for its effectiveness, ensuring healthcare access to all, even in remote areas and amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent announcement, the chief minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, lauded the success of the e-Sanjeevani teleconsultation service in the state. The service, aimed at delivering high-quality healthcare to remote areas, has proven highly effective, ensuring access to healthcare for all residents.

Khattar made these statements during the 'CM Ki Vishesh Charcha' program, where he spoke with beneficiaries of the e-Sanjeevani health services through an audio conference.

The e-Sanjeevani service has been accessible 24 hours daily in Haryana since August 16, 2021. In the fiscal year 2022-23, 1.02 Lakh consultations were provided through the e-Sanjeevani OPD, marking a significant milestone in the state's healthcare initiatives. Khattar emphasised that this service is a testament to the evolution of digital health in India.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought many challenges, including the risks associated with venturing outside and the necessity of lockdowns to curb the virus's spread. During this period, people were understandably hesitant to seek medical care in hospitals, prioritising their safety.

Even for those who did seek medical attention, the overwhelming patient load in hospitals made securing an appointment with a healthcare professional a daunting task. In these trying times, the e-Sanjeevani service demonstrated its remarkable effectiveness by facilitating medical consultations and treatment from the safety and comfort of individuals' homes.

Haryana introduced the e-Sanjeevani service on May 1, 2020, and it has since played a crucial role in ensuring healthcare access for the state's residents.

Khattar pointed out that the state has significantly expanded and enhanced teleconsultation services, making healthcare more accessible.

"This effort included the establishment of 22 teleconsultation hubs, one in each district civil hospital in the state.”

Going a step further, specialist and super-specialist hubs were created in collaboration with PGIMER, Chandigarh. These initiatives have facilitated direct communication between primary and sub-health centres and specialist and super-specialist doctors. As a result, this teleconsultation network now covers all districts in Haryana.

The teleconsultation service does not just make healthcare more accessible; it also significantly reduces the cost of patient treatment and eliminates the need for physical travel.

Khattar stressed that it has led to an enhancement in the quality of medical services.

"Another significant advantage is that individuals can receive consultations from doctors at government medical institutions located in any corner of the state, all from the comfort of their homes."

One of the standout achievements of the e-Sanjeevani services is its contribution to providing high-quality healthcare services to vulnerable population segments. As it bridges the gap in healthcare accessibility, it aligns with the state's goal to ensure that every resident receives the healthcare they need.

With its success in Haryana, the e-Sanjeevani model could serve as an example for other regions in India and around the world, demonstrating the potential of telemedicine in providing efficient and effective healthcare services.
