An approach to health and well-being that takes into account the needs and preferences of individuals, families, and communities as a whole is known as primary healthcare. While addressing the broader determinants of health, it places an emphasis on the comprehensive and interconnected aspects of physical, mental, and social health and wellbeing. Better health outcomes and a lower all-cause mortality rate are associated with having access to primary healthcare services. WHO additionally recognizes the crucial role of primary healthcare in advancing health and wellbeing for all individuals, irrespective of their gender, age, and financial background.

In any case, an absence of healthcare infrastructure, a lack of trained medical experts, and restricted access to essential drugs and medical care facilities continue to torment villages in rural India. Around 66% of the Indian population lives in rural regions; in any case, they need to travel a significant distance for primary care, which is tedious and costly for them. Health camps provide underprivileged communities with the convenience and benefits of primary healthcare in such circumstances.

Government Medical Camps: Primary Healthcare provider

Several rural residents with chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, orthopaedic issues, and so on., face problems with regular checkups due to a lack of medical specialists, medications, and transportation restrictions. Medical camps are especially important for underprivileged communities that might not have the means to get primary care.

These medical camps give urgent clinical care that these underprivileged communities need. However, it is challenging for the specialists to arrive and set-up a regular health camp because of the remote areas and troublesome access. As a result, many people are unable to receive the necessary medical care. Telemedicine, on the other hand, has a clear role to play in meeting this need.

Utilizing Telemedicine as an Enhancer

Medical camps' accessibility and quality can be improved through the use of telemedicine, which can provide healthcare remotely. The telehealth camp is a new idea that uses the power of telemedicine to provide primary healthcare from a distance. It brings medical care a lot nearer to the patient, reducing down on both expenses and travel time.

This system can help patients who live in inaccessible or remote areas. Primary healthcare can be provided in the communities in which they live, and patients do not have to travel far to the hospital. Through innovation, telemedicine has facilitated patient monitoring, which will in general diminish short term visits. As a result, doctors are able to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medication. Doctors and healthcare providers in rural areas can now quickly exchange patient data, symptomatic and therapeutic interventions, one-on-one consultations, and therapeutic services through telemedicine. Thus, telemedicine can eliminate distance hindrances and go about as an impetus for giving essential medical services to underprivileged communities.
