KIMS Hospitals Kondapur Launches 'Enhanced Patient Safety with Smart Wards' Program

The hospital will incorporate Dozee’s advanced ambulatory patient monitoring into every bed in the next 12 months.

KIMS Hospitals in Kondapur has introduced the 'Enhanced Patient Safety with Smart Wards' program, aiming to leverage technology for heightened patient care. As per the hospital, about 25% of the hospital's beds now feature Dozee's AI-based Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Early Warning System (EWS) to elevate patient safety and care standards.

What is Smart Wards Program

The 'Smart Wards Program' is an initiative that integrates advanced ambulatory patient monitoring on 25% of the hospital's beds, with plans to extend this technology to all ward beds within the following year.

Talking about this initiative, Dr Bollineni Bhaskar Rao, chairman and managing director of KIMS Hospitals, said, "Our commitment as healthcare leaders extends beyond treatment. Enabled by Dozee's cloud solution, the program facilitates continuous central and remote patient monitoring, aiming to enhance safety and clinical outcomes. KIMS Hospitals has embraced automation and digitalisation of clinical data, aiming to deliver quality healthcare through cutting-edge technology.

Use Cases of AI-Based Remote Patient Monitoring Technology

Under this initiative, Dozee's patented AI-based Ballistocardiography (BCG) technology enables healthcare professionals to remotely observe crucial parameters, including heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, SPO2 levels, temperature, and ECG.

The Early Warning System (EWS) monitors trends in these vital parameters, notifying healthcare providers of potential clinical deterioration and ensuring timely medical intervention.

Last month, Mangalore-based AJ Hospital and Research Centre also adopted Dozee's AI-based Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Early Warning System (EWS). The hospital integrated its ambulatory-connected patient monitoring systems into non-ICU ward beds, allowing for continuous contactless monitoring of vital signs.

In a parallel development, in June last year, Max Healthcare introduced an AI-powered patient monitoring framework in partnership with MyHealthcare, a digital health solutions provider.

With this framework in place, patients can self-monitor their vital signs with clinical devices connected to the Max MyHealth app. These readings are then transmitted to the electronic medical records (EMR) for the healthcare provider's assessment. The system can monitor key health metrics such as heart rate, ECG, Spo2 levels, blood sugar, and blood pressure.
