MIT Boston-born healthtech startup, Vizzhy is set to launch its healthcare Large Language Model (LLM), VizzhyGPT.

This multimodal healthtech aims to enhance healthcare delivery by optimizing context and persona-specific multilingual speech and text interactions leading to enhanced patient experiences and participatory care.

With this move, the startup seeks to build a generative AI solution specifically for India, considering the linguistic diversity and unique challenges faced in the country. This initiative is led by IIT Bombay in collaboration with various universities and institutions.

Sharing thoughts, Ayush Maheshwari, lead research scientist & architect of VizzhyGPT, said, "VizzhyGPT is a healthcare-specific LLM trained on diverse sets of medical data including medical knowledge bases, conversations, clinical datasets, bio-medical and summarization datasets.’’

What is VizzhyGPT?

VizzhyGPT features extensive multilingual capabilities, allowing it to handle a wide range of languages. It is focused on healthcare, ranging from interpreting the latest clinical trials to understanding proteomics and providing updates on the current treatment protocols for specific diseases.

Additionally, it can simplify tasks as basic as summarizing interactions between patients and doctors.

This model offers health information interpretation and summarization by comprehending various forms of data, including text, images, audio, and video files. Additionally, Vizzhy plans to offer products and services built upon VizzhyGPT, collaborating with industry partners to develop tailored solutions.

VizzhyGPT’s Plan of Offerings

In an exclusive conversation with DHN, Dr Vishnu Vardhan, founder & CEO, of Vizzhy, provided insights into the ongoing development of VizzhyGPT, a Large Language Model (LLM) tailored for healthcare solutions.

Articulating Vizzhy’s goal, Vardhan said, “We started with the vision that it should address all the problems and because many people are building healthcare large language models, but they're very specifically focused on clinical trials or symptom tracker…..we should build a large language model that virtually incorporates very experiential knowledge that is available in the in researchers and universities.’’

Addressing the language challenge in a diverse country like India, Vardhan noted that healthcare is English-specific and that all models speak in English leading to a gap in offering enhanced care to the patients.

Highlighting it he stated, “Like a patient can speak any language in India but ultimately all the healthcare happens in English. So we wanted anyone to talk and understand any language. We have bought into this model of automatic speech recognition.’’

VizzhyGPT model works in 11 languages, however, the founder & CEO have plans to increase the number to 22 languages making the system more accessible. Vardhan further disclosed plans to adopt several foreign languages including Spanish as the company aims for global expansion.

Partnership with BharatGPT & Hospital Chains

Furthermore, Vardhan highlighted Vizzhy's partnership with BharatGPT, an initiative led by IIT Bombay in collaboration with various universities and institutions.

“The research project is an international collaboration, but when it comes to specific Indian languages, we have worked with the IIT-Bombay and many other researchers in India,” he added.

The goal is to build a generative AI solution specifically for India, considering the linguistic diversity and unique challenges faced in the country.

Additionally, Vardhan mentioned ongoing discussions with hospital chains. He affirmed their plan to launch the LLM for hospitals and doctors who will use this.

While talking to DHN, Vardhan shared that two major hospital chains in India have already signed up with Vizzhy. However, he refrained from disclosing the names.

Reflecting on the growing concerns around diabetes and cancer, Vardhan highlighted Vizzhy's prioritization of diabetes management and advancements in cancer research.

Vizzhy Eyeing Global Expansion

During the discussion, Vardhan shed light on Vizzhy's strategic focus on global expansion. Talking about the expansion in the US, he shared, “This will be the first Indian company that will be launching something like this in the US market.’’

Although, he didn’t mention the name of the US organization, he termed it to be the largest healthcare organization in the world that will be using VizzhyGPT.

“We are very focused on the global market. We are also working, we are working with a large number of researchers from Japan, the US, Korea, and Australia,” stated Vardhan.

He also revealed collaborations with leading institutions and researchers worldwide, including partnerships with esteemed organizations like the Systems Biology Institute in Japan.

Rolling out Plans

As informed by Vardhan, Vizzhy is now gearing up for the launch with continuous beta testing and checks. The launch is scheduled to be in April while the preparations will speed up from March. They are also planning to launch internationally

When asked about the rolling out plans, Vardhan provided insights into Vizzhy's timeline for launching VizzhyGPT, revealing that the organization is currently gearing up its beta testing and a full-scale rollout is expected in April.

He also mentioned a major launch program in March to accelerate the introduction of VizzhyGPT to the market. Furthermore, Vardhan hinted at bringing two major technologies - multi-omics technology and the GANs, to further accelerate the process.
