Lord's Mark, a Mumbai based biotech firm has launched an online lab through which patients can book genome tests. The tests are painless as no blood sample is needed. The tests are done from saliva samples and can be done easily at home.

Within 48 hours (about 2 days), the tests kits are delivered to the patient's door, and after they are finished, a reverse pick-up is scheduled. After the sample analysis, the report is mailed to the registered email address of the patient.

Subodh Gupta, CEO, Lord's Mark said, 'œOnce patient received the report, we give them an option of counselling by our trained genetic counsellors who are available for a session to make the patient understand the report as the report can be slightly technical in medical terms.'

Further he added that assistance of a genetic counsellor is offered to the patient who explains the findings and what the patient should do going forward to protect oneself against the disease and how it may be genetically predisposed.

To prevent errors, a test booklet will be given to the patients so that samples can be collected easily without any hustle. The margins of error are very thin, and if there is a mistake, the patient or consumer is offered another test kit charging a little extra.

Gupta further shared that, 'œIf you want to educate people about preventive testing, the test has to be patient friendly.'

The online lab is also convenient to use for children. Using the platform, a test for three or four-year-old children can be done because for every child there is a technical place specimen or a sample that draws blood with the help of a phlebotomist. As it is a saliva-based test so it can be completed in 30 seconds by the patient.

According to the CEO of the company, to live a longer and healthier life, it is important to raise awareness about preventative tests and improve lifestyle. The test will become affordable, and cost will further reduce in future, he said.

Gupta further noted how diagnostics are no longer limited to the lab and said that the way science is progressing, especially with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), genetic tests can be performed at home, one doesn't need to go to a lab.

Lord's Mark Biotech was founded in 2022 by Sachidanand Upadhyay. The company works in the direction of delivering value to all stakeholders and partners by creating a sustainable business.

Earlier, World Health Organisation (WHO) provided global recommendations to help establish human genome editing as a public health tool with an emphasis on safety, effectiveness and ethics. The benefits of human genome editing include faster and accurate diagnosis, more targeted treatments and prevention of genetic disorders.
