Nearly 6 Lakh Tokens Generated in J&K Hospitals Using Scan & Share Queue Management Facility

The 1st phase of the program included government medical colleges and associated hospitals. In the 2nd phase, all district hospitals were covered, whereas the 3rd phase included all the community health centres (CHCs). 

Scan and Share Queue Management System used by various hospitals of Jammu & Kashmir has generated close to 6 Lakh out-patient department (OPD) tokens. The milestone has been achieved within just four months of its launch. It emphasises the advancements that are made under digital healthcare interventions.'¯ 

An official reported that since the facility's opening, an astonishing 5,66,302 tokens have been generated by the queue management system. With a daily growth in token generation that has remained stable, the active healthcare facilities have been operating incredibly well, an official added. 

In its first phase, the Scan and Share QR-based OPD registration was made available to government medical colleges and associated hospitals in April. In the 2nd phase, the program was extended to all district hospitals, and later in the 3rd phase, community health centers (CHCs) were included.'¯ 

Dr Shafqat Khan, additional director, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) said that 'œ3,30,262 tokens have been generated in Government Medical Colleges and its associated hospitals.' 

According to him, GMCH generated the most tokens'”46,730'”while Government Dental College Jammu generated the fewest'”846. 

He also added, 'œIn 13 district hospitals where such facilities are available, 1,93,512 tokens have been generated through the facility with 55,189 (highest) in District Hospital Ganderbal and 1,271 (lowest) in District Hospital Ganderbal.' 

Further, by using any health application such as ABHA, Aarogya Setu, EkaCare, etc., the patient can scan the QR code and share their ABHA profile with HMIS (Health Management Information System) of the hospital. 

Dr Khan said, 'œOur focus is to work closely with the stakeholders to maximize the impact of ABDM-enabled digital health services,' the doctor added. The QR code-based rapid OPD registration service is being implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA) under its flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The patient saves time and the health facility is able to optimize the need for resources deployed for registration.' 

This facility makes it possible to register without paper and instantly generate tokens. Additionally, the patient's medical history is digitally connected to their ABHA, which they can control and access from any location at any time. 

In modernising the digital healthcare services, the government of J&K took an initiative of using AI in the healthcare system. It helps to improve the outcomes, optimise strategies and bring various new advancements in medical services. 

Further, a few other digital healthcare initiatives taken by the J& K government include: the Digi-Dost program and CSC-Aadhaar Seva Kendras at the block level.  

The first one offers citizen-centric governance by facilitating doorstep delivery of services. It enhances accessibility to essential services, particularly in far-flung regions where accessibility was once a hindrance. 

The introduction of CSC-Aadhaar Seva Kendras is another initiative taken by the said government in this area to improve healthcare services.
