SBI Life's '˜Thanks a Dot' campaign has launched a  novel tool to underscore the importance of self-breast examination and early detection.

As a part of the initiative, SBI Life has developed a new hot water bag specifically designed for effective breast self-examination.

The hot water bag features a 3D engraving of breast cancer lumps on its front side, resembling the shape, size, and texture of an actual breast cancer lump. This allows women to experience the tactile sensation of a real breast cancer lump during self-examination.

During October, which is recognised as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, SBI is providing these specially designed hot water bags free of charge. The initiative aims to promote behavioural change, encourage open conversations, and ultimately cultivate a healthy habit of self-breast examination.

The tool helps in training, educating and reminding Indian women about making self-breast examination a regular habit and the importance of early detection.

Going forward, SBI will be organising educational workshops in rural India to break down sociocultural barriers associated with breast cancer and help women learn the simple techniques to fight the battle against breast cancer.

Recent studies highlight an alarming rise in breast cancer cases among younger Indian women aged 25 to 50. Reportedly, 60% of these cases are diagnosed at advanced stages, reducing the survival rates considerably. However, early detection can save lives in 98% of breast cancer cases which makes regular check-ups a crucial step in fighting the battle against breast cancer.

In another significant development, Fujifilm India advanced breast cancer detection efforts with 125 new digital mammography units. This move aligns with the company's aim to raise awareness about early breast cancer detection and equipping healthcare professionals with advanced technologies for effective care.
