Mumbai-based RBL Bank has launched Dhanvantri program, which will offer free mobile health services for a broad category of support staff including essential and domestic services personnel. For the same, it has further unveiled a mobile healthcare van that will be providing complimentary health and eye checkups for those individuals employed in residential neighbourhoods and gated communities.

RBL’s Dhanvantri initiative identifies a series of problems faced by these individuals and offers a comprehensive range of services that include health checkups, vision correction, doctor consultations, and educational guidance on preventive healthcare for lifestyle conditions such as diabetes and cholesterol (lipid).

This activity will cater specifically to house helps, security guards, drivers, housekeeping staff, blue-collar workers and others working in similar roles. Through this initiative, the bank seeks to address the healthcare requirements of the underprivileged in an easily accessible way.

Founded in 1943 by Babgonda Bhujgonda Patil and Gangappa Siddappa Chougule, RBL Bank, formerly known as Ratnakar Bank, is an Indian private sector bank.

Before the Dhanvantri initiative, the bank worked extensively on preventive healthcare, focusing on Retinoblastoma eye cancer for children and Retinopathy in diabetic patients. These initiatives are part of RBL Bank’s commitment to delivering and promoting inclusive growth through various focused initiatives in promoting preventive healthcare in the country.

In a similar such instance, the Hyundai Motor India Foundation launched telemedicine clinics as a part of their CSR. Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) inaugurated the launch of Telemedicine clinics in Humma, Rambha, Pattapur, Raj Ranpur and Godipara villages in the Ganjam and Nayagarh districts of Odisha.

The Telemedicine facilities are nurse-assisted centres where the patient is first surveyed by an authorised nurse who comprehends the patient's concern and afterwards connects him/her to an empanelled specialist, through a video call. Once the consultation is done, the attendant nurse works out the prescription and provides the medications accordingly.

Additionally, the centres are connected with labs where fundamental pathology and blood tests can be directed. However, all serious cases are referred to hospitals in Odisha.
