Bengaluru-Based 02-Matic Launches the World’s First Portable Oxygen Generator

Bengaluru-based startup 02-Matic has launched the world’s first portable oxygen generator, Portia that provides life-saving gas in just 40 seconds.

The newly launched portable oxygen cylinder produces 99.7% pure medical-grade oxygen. The product is a Chemical Oxygen generator which does not require any infrastructure support like trained manpower, batteries, or power.

Further, the cylinder does not store oxygen, instead it generates oxygen using patented chemical compounds and a unique process to generate 99.9% pure medical oxygen.

Additionally, Portia has been granted Global Patents across the US, EU, UK, India and China, making it the first medical oxygen brand in the world.

Reportedly, it will be priced at INR 42,000 per unit to INR 96,000 depending on the customisation required. However, going forward the company aims to make Portia available for 100 litres or 1000 litres at pharmacies and general stores aligning with its tagline - "Oxygen Whenever Wherever."

Expressing his views, John Jay, founder, Portia said, "The plans made for the development of this product, in terms of innovation and its reach was, we were forced to look at new options in the product development and commercialization phase during the Covid pandemic. We had to move our manufacturing operations overnight from Bengaluru to Coimbatore overnight. We are now working on getting to reduce the weight of our innovation with the use of new-age materials and are on the way to getting our CE marking and US FDA approvals for sales in Europe and the USA.’’

So far the startup has sold more than 1000 units of Portia. In addition to global marketing, the startup is looking to engage with large-scale user departments in the Government of India for further sales.

Founded by John Joy and Sanjay Pillai, the Bengaluru-based startup aims to provide a reliable and portable source of medical-grade oxygen for emergency and healthcare needs. Currently, the startup is working on reducing the weight of Portia with the use of new-age materials.

In a similar instance, another Bengaluru-based institution, Practo launched branded clinics and hospitals in 10 cities. These clinics and hospitals will have advanced technologies along with new services on top of Practo’s platform such as ‘Practo Prime’ to deliver a superior healthcare experience for both consumers and providers.

Earlier, Bengaluru-based Cytecare launched the Institute for Dialysis & Renal Diseases in partnership with NGO Humanist. The institute sought to improve patients' quality of life, provide life-sustaining dialysis, and assist in managing renal failure-related comorbidities, including critical care assistance.
