The new infrastructure will offer advanced medical equipment and facilities designed to accommodate the latest breakthroughs in medical science. These enhancements will further contribute to improved patient outcomes and a more efficient healthcare delivery system.

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya has unveiled eight new facilities equipped with advanced technologies and modern amenities at AIIMS New Delhi.

The eight new facilities include the Mother and Child Block, Surgical Block, National Centre for Geriatrics, New Paid Ward in Main Hospital, Centre for Advanced Research in Hospital Infection Control and Forensic DNA Laboratory at JPN Apex Trauma Centre and Centre for Medical Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CMIE) and Private Ward Wing at National Cancer Institute (NCI).

The expansion seeks to address the evolving healthcare needs of a growing population and to reinforce AIIMS New Delhi's position as a global leader in medical innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mandaviya said, “AIIMS New Delhi is a lighthouse, setting conventions and principles that the entire country follows. The outstanding reputation of AIIMS is a testament to the commitment and enthusiasm exhibited by the dedicated doctors working here.”

The new infrastructure will offer advanced medical equipment and facilities designed to accommodate the latest breakthroughs in medical science. These enhancements will further contribute to improved patient outcomes and a more efficient healthcare delivery system.

The inclusion of new facilities aligns with AIIMS New Delhi's objective to minimise patient waiting times and broaden its ability to cater to a larger demographic. The institution maintains its dedication to offering accessible, top-tier healthcare services to the community.

Founded in 1956, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi was established by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. It operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

As an Institute of National Importance, AIIMS Delhi aims to provide high-quality medical education and healthcare services. It also provides a wide range of healthcare services, including diagnostic tests and treatments.

To keep up with modern needs, AIIMS Delhi sought collaboration with IITs & IIMs to offer AI, drone-based healthcare services. Furthermore, AIIMS seeks to explore innovative applications of drones and robotics that could revolutionise medical supply delivery and surgical procedures.

Last month, at an event, Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare revealed that the central government is rolling out a plan to establish AIIMS in every state. This aligns with the Union government’s goal to strengthen the healthcare system in both rural and urban areas. Moreover, it also aims to enhance Reproductive-Maternal-Neonatal-Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A).
