Reportedly, the Health Clinic will also offer online health consultations. Additionally, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is planning to launch a travel health app to ensure healthcare seekers are prepared and protected against potential health risks during their international travels.

To improve healthcare services in the state, AIIMS Bhubaneswar has started a new ‘Travel Health Clinic’ in the hospital. This is the first of its kind in Odisha and one among the very few in the country.

The special clinic will run twice a week and will provide imminent travellers with essential vaccination services including some country-specific vaccines like the Yellow fever vaccine, advice regarding healthy behaviour during travel, assembling a customised medical kit for use in emergencies and the other ‘Dos and Don’ts’ during the period.

Reportedly, the Health Clinic will also offer online health consultations. Additionally, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is planning to launch a travel health app to ensure healthcare seekers are prepared and protected against potential health risks during their international travels.

This Travel Health Clinic seeks to increase public awareness about travel health and promote research and innovations in travel medicine. Further, this initiative will help many people seeking travel health advice while going abroad.

Dr Bijay Panigrahi, director, Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha said, "As every year more than 2 Cr people from India visit abroad. This clinic will educate international travellers prior to their travel. What medicine they need to take, what type vaccine they have to take, they can know from the clinic."

Established in 2012, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is an apex medical institute in the country offering academic courses in various healthcare streams. It aims to provide high-quality medical education and healthcare services. It provides a wide range of healthcare services, including diagnostic tests and treatments.

Last month, AIIMS Bhubaneswar launched an E-payment service to enhance patient experience. This service lets patients, and their relatives conveniently pay fees online, reducing the need for cumbersome visits to billing counters. It allows for quick and hassle-free payments using various methods, including UPI, wallets, credit/debit cards, and net banking, all through the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Swasthya App.

Earlier, the Odisha government procured 70 ambulances for smooth patient care and transportation. These newly introduced ambulances serve multiple purposes, including the transportation of patients receiving treatment through the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), transfer of patients to private hospitals, and deployment for use in correctional facilities, for VIPs, and at special events.
