Recognising the mounting concern related to prostate cancer in India, the PHI test serves as a valuable tool in determining the necessity for a prostate biopsy.

Noida-based Redcliffe Labs has broadened its medical services by incorporating the processing of the Prostate Health Index (PHI) test at its central laboratory in Noida. This expansion aims to enhance the diagnostic capabilities in the field of prostate health

The PHI test is a straightforward and cost-effective blood test that aids in the identification of patients who genuinely require a prostate biopsy. It is particularly beneficial for men aged 50 and above with non-suspicious digital rectal examination (DRE) results and a total prostate-specific antigen (PSA) range of 4 to 10 ng/mL.

Dr Sohini Sengupta, medical laboratory director at Redcliffe Labs, underscored the urgency in addressing the escalating cases of prostate cancer in India. She said, "The advanced PHI test demonstrates significantly improved accuracy compared to the traditional PSA test, up to three times."

Moreover, Redcliffe Labs commits  to provide same-day results for PHI tests, ensuring swift and efficient access to crucial diagnostic information.

Recognising the mounting concern related to prostate cancer in India, the PHI test serves as a valuable tool in determining the necessity for a prostate biopsy.

It assists in reducing the occurrence of unnecessary and negative biopsies by employing a mathematical formula that amalgamates serum total PSA, free PSA (fPSA), and p2PSA ([-2]proPSA) concentrations.

Recently Redcliffe Labs has earned some bad press for an alarming data breach incident last week. Wherein, the security of the Noida-based laboratory exposed sensitive medical data, including the records of over 1.2 Cr patients.

The breach, discovered by cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler, revealed an unprotected database housing extensive medical records, diagnostic scans, and other confidential health data.

Redcliffe Labs has not issued any statement regarding the breach. The exposure of such a massive trove of medical information raises concerns about patient confidentiality and data security.
