This partnership aims to bring Nicoya's research solutions, including the Alto™ and OpenSPR® platforms, to the scientific community in India.

Nicoya, a Canadian life science instrument company known for its innovative biosensor technology, has recently announced a strategic partnership with Mumbai-based Medispec, appointing them as the exclusive distributor of Nicoya's advanced research solutions in India.

This partnership aims to bring Nicoya's research solutions, including the Alto™ and OpenSPR® platforms, to the scientific community in India.

Commenting on the expansion, Ryan Denomme, CEO at Nicoya, said, "We are thrilled to join forces with Medispec to bring our revolutionary biosensor platforms to the dynamic and growing scientific community in India." Denomme emphasized the alignment of values between Nicoya and Medispec, highlighting their confidence in the collaboration's ability to promote scientific advancements in India.

Expanding Market Reach in India

The partnership with Medispec opens up new opportunities for researchers and pharmaceutical companies in India to access Nicoya's cutting-edge technologies. By providing localized support and distribution channels, Medispec will facilitate the adoption of Nicoya's biosensor platforms across various scientific disciplines.

Additionally, Nicoya's biosensor platforms, Alto™ and OpenSPR®, offer researchers advanced tools for biomolecular analysis. The Alto™ platform, in particular, has gained attention for its next-generation features, including high sensitivity and minimal sample requirements. These attributes make it suitable for various applications, from drug discovery to in vitro diagnostic testing.

Application of the Nicoya OpenSPR

The Nicoya OpenSPR, a benchtop surface plasmon resonance (SPR) instrument, offers a versatile solution for label-free interaction analysis of various biomolecules. Similar to other optical biosensor instruments, it facilitates the analysis of proteins, peptides, antibodies, nucleic acids, lipids, viruses, and hormones/cytokines.

Supported assays on the OpenSPR platform encompass affinity/kinetics characterization, concentration analysis, yes/no assessment of binding, competition studies, and epitope mapping. This broad range of applications makes the OpenSPR an invaluable tool for researchers in fields such as biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical research.

Utilizing localized SPR detection in a benchtop format, the OpenSPR can be seamlessly integrated with an autosampler (XT) for automated analysis over an extended period. This feature enhances efficiency and scalability, allowing researchers to conduct experiments with minimal hands-on time.

Medispec's Perspective

Mumbai-based Medispec, founded in 1995 by Vipul Chatbar, is a life science solution provider known for its collaborative partnerships and advanced technologies. Catering to diverse professionals such as biotechnologists, microbiologists, and biochemists, MEDISPEC builds global partnerships and provides extensive support.

Adding insights, Vikkalp Chhatbar, the head of business development at Medispec, said, "We're excited to announce this strategic partnership between Medispec and Nicoya, a significant milestone in our commitment to providing the scientific community with the best tools available."

Chhatbar reiterated Medispec's dedication to supporting scientific advancements and its aim to contribute to the success of scientific endeavors in India through Nicoya's innovative biosensor platforms.

Previous Collaborations & Expansions

In a previous collaboration, Nicoya partnered with INOVIQ to develop a SubB2M-based test on Nicoya's digital SPR platform. This partnership aimed to transfer, develop, and evaluate a prototype SubB2M-based test on Nicoya's Alto instrument, revolutionizing real-time interaction analysis in cancer risk assessment and detection.

Additionally, Nicoya expanded its capabilities in molecular testing through the acquisition of LSK Technologies, a University of Toronto spinout specializing in decentralized laboratory testing. This strategic acquisition aligns with Nicoya's efforts to develop viral detection methods and advance rapid antigen testing technology, contributing to the global fight against infectious diseases such as COVID-19.

Established in 2012 by Ryan Denomme, Nicoya, a Canadian life sciences tools company, specializes in innovative biosensor technology for the academic and biopharmaceutical sectors. With a focus on improving human life, Nicoya provides scientists with user-friendly solutions that accelerate biomolecular analysis.
