When ready to go, the new data center at KGMU will record significant clinical information like diagnoses, genomic data of patients, familial connections and patterns, which will help with conducting risk analysis. In addition to enhancing KGMU's research capabilities, the facility will assist the government in closely monitoring changes in prevalent diseases and determining their severity.
"Despite generating a vast amount of data records, the data has not been stored for analysis until now. The establishment of this data center will enable the analysis of this data, providing valuable insights into the prevalence, changes, and severity of diseases" - Lt Gen Prof Bipin Puri, Vice Chancellor, KGMU
Experts from the University of Manitoba will come to KGMU to teach students and faculty how to analyze data as part of the collaboration. In terms of the infrastructure, KGMU already has facilities like computer central networks that connect departments.
The new data center will be built at KGMU in Lucknow during the project's initial phase. After the first phase achieves the desired results, the decision to extend similar health care data analytics to additional cities will be made.
The VC further added that assuming everything goes according to design, the information gathered by the center can likewise be utilized to foster an application that will actually want to foresee future dangers in regard to the prevalent diseases.
