Tele-MANAS (Telemental Health Assistance and Networking across States) is a two-tiered system announced in Budget 2022. A state Tele MANAS cell includes trained counselors and mental health specialists

The Indian government introduced the National Tele Mental Health Program of India in Budget 2022 to improve mental health assistance across states. One key component is the Tele-MANAS program, which operates on a two-tier system with trained counselors and specialists at both state and district levels.

In a significant step for mental health services in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched India's first Tele-MANAS chat-bot during the 'J-K Health Conclave.' The chat-bot provides 24/7 access to health counselors and psychologists, ensuring continuous support for those in need. The conclave also saw essential collaborations with Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and NIMHANS to enhance cancer care services and mental health training for medical officers and nursing staff.

Lt. Governor Sinha praised the efforts of the health department to address critical health challenges and emphasized patient-centered care to improve physical and emotional well-being. The per capita spending on healthcare in J-K is among the highest in the country, reflecting the government's commitment to prioritize healthcare.

During the conclave, 44 healthcare facilities worth Rs 56.18 crore were inaugurated to strengthen medical infrastructure. New initiatives like T3 - Test, Treat, and Talk, anemia camps, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease program, and scan and share service for OPD registration were also launched to enhance the health system's resilience.

To expand community health services, the National Health Mission, Jammu and Kashmir, is recruiting additional Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and facilitators, along with tribal ASHAs to cater to the healthcare needs of the tribal population, improving health indicators. Overall, the collective efforts of the J-K administration and partnerships with reputed institutions are poised to positively impact healthcare accessibility and mental well-being for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
