Intuitive, a leader in surgical robotics and Max Healthcare have officially announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Southeast Asia Total Program Observation (TPO) Centre.
This venture will be home at the Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket, New Delhi.
The TPO Centre is strategically designed to offer an unprecedented platform for healthcare professionals to engage in comprehensive learning experiences within multi-disciplinary robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) programs.
In addition to providing clinical technology training, the TPO Centre will take a comprehensive approach, addressing critical aspects of fostering a successful robotic surgery program.
This includes delving into the realms such as financial viability, the establishment of a robotic steering committee, and the formulation of sustainable investment pathways.
Henry Charlton, Intuitive's senior VP and chief commercial and marketing officer noted that this collaboration with Max Healthcare is poised to influence the Indian and Southeast Asian surgical healthcare landscapes positively. The partnership aims to empower healthcare professionals across the region, enabling them to spearhead advancements in patient care through robotic-assisted surgery.
Charlton affirmed that the exchange of insights and experiences fosters a culture of excellence, thereby elevating the overall standards of surgical healthcare within the region.
As a US-based company founded in 1995, Intuitive Surgical, Inc. develops, manufactures, and markets robotic solutions to enhance patient outcomes within minimally invasive surgical settings.
Last week, Intuitive Surgical, known for developing the da Vinci robotic surgical system, highlighted a notable increase in demand for robotic systems among Indian hospitals.
In alignment with the principles outlined by Intuitive, hospitals aspiring to achieve recognition as Intuitive's robotic-assisted TPO centres must adhere to specific criteria. These criteria encompass hosting an RAS program spanning over three specialties, functioning as a clinical observation site for more than two specialties, and demonstrating successful integration of robotic technology, encompassing advanced instrumentation.
Dr. Sandeep Budhiraja, group medical director at Max Healthcare, underscored the significance of sharing best practices in robotic-assisted surgery with surgeons and healthcare professionals in India and across the broader region.
Established in 2001 by Analjit Singh, Max Healthcare Institute Limited is an Indian private hospital chain headquartered in Delhi. Alongside its expertise in robotics, Max Healthcare has partnered with MyHealthcare to introduce an AI-powered remote patient monitoring network. This initiative facilitates Indian patients in accessing Max Healthcare's medical professionals from their homes through integrated devices, streamlining healthcare services.
