MedPay joins ONDC, disrupting pharmacy purchases and connecting local pharmacies directly with a broader customer base. This aligns with its mission to establish India's largest Connected Care Network.

In a strategic move aimed at transforming the pharmacy purchase experience and fostering inclusive growth, Bengaluru-based healthtech startup MedPay has integrated with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

ONDC is an initiative by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

The collaboration allows seamless access to MedPay's extensive local pharmacy network through the ONDC platform, facilitating transactions and expanding the reach of MedPay pharmacies across various apps on the Open Network.

This integration enables consumers to explore and engage with MedPay's network of pharmacies while shopping on popular buyer apps such as Pincode, Paytm, and more.

By becoming part of the ONDC Network, MedPay aims to disrupt the pharmacy purchase landscape, breaking geographical barriers and connecting local pharmacies directly with a more extensive customer base. The move aligns with MedPay's mission of establishing India's largest Connected Care Network.

"As we welcome new participants into the ONDC ecosystem, our vision extends beyond revolutionising digital commerce and trade to fostering a dynamic and sustainable global marketplace, driven by principles of inclusion and shared prosperity," said T Koshy, MD & CEO, ONDC.

As an early adopter of ONDC in the healthcare and wellness sector, MedPay's presence on the network creates opportunities for broader reach and increased sales for stand-alone pharmacies. Local pharmacies and small chemists, which traditionally faced limitations in customer reach, can now benefit from the expansive ONDC ecosystem.

Ravi Chandra, cofounder and CEO of MedPay, said, "We are excited to be a part of ONDC. As a pharmacy aggregator, we are aligned with ONDC on our mission to create equal opportunities for all. Joining ONDC will boost the local pharmacy network with discovery and e-commerce. This gives equal and fair opportunity to every stand-alone pharmacy to compete with existing inventory-based online medicine platforms."

India's rapidly growing tech stack is witnessing innovative collaborations. By leveraging the ONDC Network, MedPay aims to extend its services to new customers across the country, contributing to the ongoing transformation of digital healthcare in India.

The collaboration is expected to bring about positive changes in the healthcare and wellness domain, promoting accessibility, inclusivity, and fair competition among pharmacies. MedPay's integration with ONDC is anticipated to serve as a model for future collaborations that drive the evolution of digital commerce in India.
