Haystack Analytics, a genomics-based diagnostics solution incubated at IIT-Bombay, has partnered with The LabExpert, a Mumbai-based diagnostic laboratory, to unveil 'infexn™️,' a genomic infectious disease test in Mumbai.
This innovative 'Made in India' proprietary technology harnesses advanced data analytics to enable rapid and precise detection of a broad spectrum of infectious diseases.
Notably, the infexn™️ test is designed to detect various bacteria and fungi while simultaneously identifying major antimicrobial resistance genes. This capability empowers healthcare professionals to adopt evidence-based diagnostic approaches, a significant stride in combating infectious diseases effectively.
Talking about the collaboration, Dr Mahua Dasgupta Kapoor, director of medical affairs (Infectious Diseases) at Haystack Analytics, said, "We are thrilled to lead the way in this innovative journey into the field of genomics, and these collaborations with healthcare diagnostics laboratories allow Haystack Analytics to showcase the acceptance of genomics for enhancing healthcare outcomes significantly."
The product, infexn™️, with a turnaround time of just 12 hours and direct sample analysis, outpaces the limitations of conventional microbial cultures, ensuring swift results delivery and comprehensive insights.
Commenting on the development, Dr Manoj Gautam, NGS coordinator and member of the managing committee at The LabExpert, said, "The power of the genomics-based test lies in the ability to detect all bacteria and fungi diseases while also identifying crucial anti-microbial genes. By combining our expertise in infectious diseases research, we aim to provide all healthcare professionals in Mumbai with a powerful tool to combat the disease effectively."
