The initiative, encompassing home delivery and telehealth access, aimed to simplify patient experiences and improve outcomes.
Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical company, Eli Lilly has unveiled a digital healthcare platform, LillyDirect, specifically designed for the patients dealing with obesity, migraine, and diabetes, the company said this in a press statement.
LillyDirect offers a range of patient-centric features aimed at simplifying the healthcare experience for those living with chronic illnesses.
According to David A Ricks, Lilly’s chair and CEO, the primary objective of the platform is to alleviate the challenges faced by these patients within the complex US health system.
Ricks stated, “With LillyDirect, our goal is to relieve some of those burdens by simplifying the patient experience to help improve outcomes. LillyDirect offers more choices in how and where people access healthcare, including a convenient home delivery option to fill Lilly medicines they have been prescribed.”
LillyDirect offers access to independent healthcare providers, direct home delivery of specified Lilly medicines through third-party pharmacy dispensing services. It also provides access to LillyDirect Pharmacy Solutions—a digital pharmacy for consistent access to prescribed medications delivered directly to patients at their homes.
Patients using LillyDirect will also have access to healthcare education information and independent telehealth providers. The platform further incorporates a search tool enabling patients to find nearby healthcare professionals should they prefer in-person care.
The launch of LillyDirect aligns with the growing popularity of telehealth services across various age groups. Which is actually demystifying certain myths about the older generation’s technology averseness. Contrary to these beliefs, a recent joint PYMNTS-Lynx study revealed that 64% of baby boomers and seniors actively engaged in digital healthcare activities.
Additionally, the study indicated that older individuals expressed higher satisfaction with their digital healthcare experiences compared to the average consumer, particularly in activities such as scheduling appointments, accessing digital pharmacies, and refilling prescriptions online.
In a recent acquisition, days back, Eli Lilly and Company concluded the acquisition of POINT Biopharma Global Inc, a radiopharmaceutical company specialising in cancer treatment. The acquisition, priced at $12.50 per share in cash, marks Lilly's entry into next-generation radioligand therapies.
Eli Lilly and Company is an American pharma company, based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. It has offices in 18 countries with its products being sold in around 125 countries. The company was founded in 1876 by Colonel Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical chemist and veteran of the American Civil War.
