AWS to help Dr. Reddy's cut app development time by 30%, enhance internal operations, accelerate generic drug manufacturing processes, and foster innovation

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been chosen as the preferred cloud provider by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Limited (Dr. Reddy's) to enhance access to affordable and innovative medicines. As part of their collaboration, Dr. Reddy's has migrated its entire SAP platform to AWS, aiming to accelerate the development of healthcare applications, expand their digital platform to serve over 1.5 billion patients worldwide by 2030, and enable better patient progress tracking for healthcare providers.

With AWS, Dr. Reddy's targets a 30% reduction in application development time, improved internal operations, accelerated advancements in generic drug manufacturing processes, and the fostering of new areas of innovation. It is among the first AWS customers to run data center and disaster recovery workloads from both the new AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region and the AWS Asia Pacific (Mumbai) Region. This ensures service continuity by running applications across multiple highly available data centers in India.

Mukesh Rathi, Chief Information and Digital Officer of Dr. Reddy's, expressed that working with AWS allows them to access top-notch technology innovations, supporting their vision of providing affordable healthcare to patients across 70 countries. The reliability of AWS accelerates the delivery of high-quality digital products and helps the company achieve sustainability goals by greening its supply chains.

Additionally, Dr. Reddy's and Amazon have entered into a strategic collaboration to create innovative go-to-market models for long-term growth. AWS's expertise in supporting global healthcare customers, combined with their wide range of cloud technologies and global infrastructure, empowers Dr. Reddy's to deliver unique customer and patient experiences while reducing their IT operations' environmental impact.

AWS recently announced a significant investment of Rs 1,05,600 crore (US $12.7 billion) in cloud infrastructure in India by 2030 to meet the increasing demand for cloud services. This investment is estimated to contribute Rs 1,94,700 crore (US $23.3 billion) to India's total GDP by 2030, further showcasing their commitment to the Indian market.
