Dr Agarwal's Group Lines Up INR 100 Cr Investment to Fuel Expansion Drive in Kerala

The new facility in Calicut is designed to provide a comprehensive range of services, encompassing routine eye examinations, advanced diagnostic procedures, and various surgical interventions.

Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals has invested INR 100 Cr to establish new hospitals and upgrade existing infrastructure in Kerala. The eye care provider, headquartered in Chennai, recently inaugurated a new hospital in Kozhikode as part of its strategic expansion initiative.

Chief operating officer of Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals, Rahul Agarwal, expressed the commitment to elevate Kerala into a hub for world-class eye care services through this substantial investment.

The funds will be deployed over the next two years, focusing on the establishment of new hospitals and the modernisation of existing facilities.

"Our objective is to provide our patients with improved access to high-quality eye care and generate employment opportunities in the healthcare sector. The investment will go towards adding new hospitals and modernising the existing four hospitals (in Kerala)", Agarwal said in a statement.

The group aims to open its second facility in Thiruvananthapuram by the end of the next financial year. Further expansion plans include establishing a presence in Kannur, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kollam, Thalassery, and Malappuram by the conclusion of 2025-26.

The recently inaugurated hospital in Calicut, sprawling across 10,000 sq ft in Patteri, Pottammal, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of various eye conditions, including cornea, retina, refractive issues, and cataracts.

Dr S Soundari, regional head-Clinical Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, said that the new facility in Calicut is designed to provide a comprehensive range of services, encompassing routine eye examinations, advanced diagnostic procedures, and various surgical interventions.

To mark the inauguration of the new facility, the hospital is offering free consultations to patients until the end of this month.

Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals currently operates a network of over 160 eye care facilities in India and 15 in Africa.

In a similar development, in October, Dr Agarwal's Group of Eye Hospitals launched its new facility at Chembur, Mumbai, with an investment of INR 225 Cr. The range of services includes cataract surgery, retina, glaucoma, cornea, and laser vision correction.

In August, they secured INR 650 Cr in venture funding, propelling their ambitious expansion drive. Expansion targets include key regions such as Maharashtra, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, central India, and the establishment of 100 primary eye clinics in Tier-II and Tier-III towns.
