Check Point Partners with Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital to Fortify Cybersecurity

The partnership entails replacing the hospital's manual data aggregation with an AI-powered, centralised system using Check Point's Maestro Hyperscale Network Security.

In a recent collaboration, California-headquartered Check Point Software Technologies has partnered with Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute, one of India's leading healthcare providers, to strengthen cybersecurity in the healthcare sector.

The partnership aims to enhance cybersecurity across the hospital's extensive IT infrastructure, leveraging Check Point's harmony and quantum solutions. These solutions will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the hospital's IT systems against sophisticated cyber threats.

The Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital's IT infrastructure comprises 300 virtual servers, 75 physical servers, virtual databases, and 2,500 endpoints. Recognised as one of India's advanced and specialised care facilities, Kokilaben is entrusted with significant amounts of sensitive patient information.

The hospital is committed to adhering to stringent data protection standards, including those set by India's National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) and the International Joint Commission (JC).

Cybersecurity Threat in Indian Healthcare Landscape

According to Check Point Research (CPR), the healthcare industry in India witnessed the highest number of cyberattacks in 2022 among all sectors.

On average, organisations in the healthcare sector experienced 1,866 cyberattacks per week, making it one of the most vulnerable verticals in the country. Against this backdrop, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital aims to address cybersecurity challenges proactively.

AI-Powered Centralised Security Solution

As part of its proactive approach, the hospital is replacing its manual data aggregation process, which involves multiple firewalls, email, and endpoints. This is being replaced by an AI-powered, centralised system facilitated by Check Point's maestro hyperscale network security.

This solution, powered by AI and big-data threat intelligence, has transformed threat identification, patch application, and remediation. The Maestro system provides visibility into open ports, enabling the hospital to remediate vulnerabilities independently.

Additionally, it scales the Check Point Quantum Security Gateways on demand, optimising capacity to meet dynamic workload requirements.

The hospital has also deployed Check Point Harmony Endpoint to enhance endpoint security without compromising performance. This not only increases productivity but also reduces user friction.

To fortify email security, the hospital plans to deploy Check Point Email & Collaboration in the subsequent implementation phase.

The consolidated approach employed by Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital empowers its security team by providing a unified dashboard for all data access.

This optimisation of operational efficiency and productivity allows the hospital to scale security operations cost-effectively, aligning with the growth of its digital infrastructure.

He highlighted the minimal ramp-up time, which enabled the security team to be fully trained to identify and remediate security gaps, contributing to maintaining a robust cybersecurity posture.

The deployment of cutting-edge solutions reflects a commitment to safeguarding sensitive patient data and ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of healthcare services in an increasingly digitalised landscape.

In another development, in November, Alkem Laboratories, a Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company, collaborated with Check Point Software Technologies to fortify its cybersecurity infrastructure using Check Point’s harmony and quantum solutions. This partnership aimed to shield Alkem's sensitive data and operations from the increasing cyber threats targeting the pharmaceutical sector.
