Smart vision glasses based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technology were introduced by Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital in Delhi, offering blind and visually impaired individuals new hope.

The smart glasses are lightweight, have a camera, a sensor, and AI/ML technology, making them even better for helping people with visual impairment. Also, along with a smart earpiece that reads, understands, and communicates information to the wearer, the glasses project images, assist with walking, and feature face recognition capabilities.

Voice assistance and GPS navigation are additional features that make them essential for visually impaired patients to navigate and avoid obstacles.

Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, in collaboration with Vision Aid India and Bengaluru-based startup SHG Technologies, introduced the wearable device, which makes the world for people with visual impairments more interesting, interactive, and independent.

"Technology has the power to revolutionize the lives of individuals with visual impairments, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this progress of eradicating blindness from the country." - Umang Mathur, Executive Director and CEO of Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital.

He went on to say that the smart vision glasses are a big step toward improving the quality of life for blind and visually impaired people, and they also strongly believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right that should be available to everyone, regardless of their physical or financial situation.

The other significance of these smart vision glasses is that they are being introduced at a time when the number of blind and visually impaired people in India is rising.

India currently has an estimated 15 million blind people and 135 million people with some kind of visual impairment, according to the World Health Organization.
